Thuringia: Investigations against ex-MPs could soon be over

Jena (dpa/th) - The investigations against the former Thuringian CDU member of the Bundestag Mark Hauptmann on suspicion of bribery could soon be completed. A decision on how to proceed will be made promptly, said the spokeswoman for the Thuringian public prosecutor's office on Wednesday in Jena. When asked in which direction this decision could go, she gave no details. The Attorney General's Office will inform you about this in due course. The "Thüringer Allgemeine" had previously reported.

Hauptmann is accused of arranging corona protective masks and receiving a commission of several hundred thousand euros from a Frankfurt company. In the course of the investigation, assets of 997,000 euros were frozen. Hauptmann has always denied having enriched himself in the Corona crisis by arranging masks. In similar cases, both the Munich Higher Regional Court and the Federal Court of Justice had ruled that the accusation of bribery against two Bavarian politicians was not tenable.
