Mühlhausen (dpa/th) - A fire in an apartment building in Mühlhausen (Unstrut-Hainich district) triggered a large-scale operation by the fire brigade. This was announced by the Thuringian police. The fire broke out in a ground floor apartment of the house on Langensalzaer Landstrasse early on Friday afternoon for an initially unknown reason. Because not all residents were able to leave the house on their own due to the heavy smoke, six of them had to be rescued from the balconies using a turntable ladder.
According to the information, the Mühlhausen fire brigade was with a large contingent at the scene of the fire, which was cordoned off over a wide area. A total of four residents were hospitalized with suspected smoke inhalation. The Nordhausen criminal police have started the investigation.
