Thuringia: Parked car starts rolling: mother and child injured

Jena (dpa/th) - A 42-year-old mother and her 14-month-old child were hit and injured by an unmanned car in Jena. The parked car began to roll on Luise-Seidler-Strasse on Monday afternoon for an initially unclear reason, as the police announced on Tuesday. A 42-year-old and her child couldn't get out of the way in time and were hit by the car. The car then hit another parked car and came to a stop.

The woman was seriously injured. The toddler suffered minor injuries. Both were taken to a hospital by paramedics who arrived for further treatment. It is still unclear why the parked car rolled away from the parking lot. An expert was reportedly consulted for the investigation.
