Thuringia: Ramelow: Energy companies with "absurd" price increases

Erfurt (dpa/th) - Thuringia's Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (left) has sharply criticized the current pricing policy of some energy companies. In an interview with the "Thüringer Allgemeine" (Friday edition), he said that energy companies were inciting the fears of some customers because they were announcing completely "absurd increases". Sometimes the monthly down payment is quadrupled. In his view, this goes beyond the extent of the increases justified by the current situation. "It's clear that this produces fear. And anger."

Ramelow explained that he was talking in particular about companies that used to stock up on current daily prices on the energy market and attracted customers with dumping prices. "Now their business model no longer works - and the result is crazy price increases or bankruptcy."
