Erfurt (dpa/th) - Traditionally on St. Nicholas Day, the "Restaurant of the Heart" opens again in Erfurt. From Tuesday (1 p.m.) onwards, the Evangelische Stadtmission offers those in need a warm meal, a snack to go with their coffee and social warmth. The campaign is financed almost entirely by donations.
However, as during the Corona pandemic, the food will not be served, but will be given to the guests in a packaged form. Conversion work on the building makes it impossible to use the hall this season, it said.
The offer, which lasts until the end of January, is also made possible by many volunteers who help in the kitchen and with serving. On the opening day, Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (left) and Mayor Andreas Bausewein (SPD) also announced their intention to do so.
