Thuringia: Son hits and chokes mother

Erfurt (dpa/th) - A 34-year-old man attacked and injured his mother in Erfurt on Friday evening. The man hit the 66-year-old in the face with his fist and then choked her until she was short of breath, the Erfurt police said on Saturday evening. When the police officers called by the mother arrived, the man defied the orders and ultimately had to be led out of the apartment in handcuffs. The woman did not have to go to the hospital. The police were still unclear on Saturday why the son became violent.
