Jena (dpa/th) - A suspected fraudster from the Weimar region who was wanted by a European arrest warrant, among other things, has been arrested by the police in Hungary. At the end of last year, the investigations against the 34-year-old from Thuringia to Hesse, Lower Saxony, Bavaria and Saxony were expanded, the police said on Monday in Jena. Later, the space for a search was expanded, since clues from other European countries also appeared. Contacts to Austria, Hungary and Romania were established.

The wanted man was arrested in Romania in April. The Romanian authorities suspended the arrest warrant against conditions. The accused did not wait to be extradited to Germany, but left Romania for Hungary in mid-May. The Hungarian authorities arrested the wanted man again on May 24. According to the information, he is in a detention center and is to be extradited to Germany.
