Cadbury, the chocolate giant, has secured a pay increase of more than 17% for its employees over the next two-years.

Unite announced that more than 1,000 employees will be given the pay raise, as well as a 25% increase in holiday pay.

The deal was supported by up to 80% workers at Bournville, Birmingham, Chirk in Wales, and Marlebrook in Hereford.

According to the union, the agreement set the standard for food production companies.

Sharon Graham, general secretary of Unite, stated that employers who can afford to increase their pay are able to do so.
