Since the start of the war, 7,110 civilians have died in Ukraine and another 11,547 have been injured, the United Nations Human Rights Office reported Monday.

With this figure, 170 people have died since the beginning of 2023 until last Sunday, while 506 have been injured in the same period.

Most of the victims are concentrated in the eastern regions of Donetsk and Lugansk, largely occupied by Russia. There the deceased and the injured are about to pass the barrier of 10,000 people.

According to the UN, 2,819 of the civilians killed so far in the war were men, 1,905 were women, 225 were boys and 180 were girls.

It has not been possible to determine this data in the rest of the bodies.

Shelling and heavy artillery attacks caused 95% of casualty attacks, while the rest occurred with antipersonnel mines and other similar explosive devices.

The agency acknowledged that its record may be well below the actual numbers of victims, especially in places like Mariupol, Izium, Lisichansk, Popasna or Severodonetsk, all in eastern Ukraine.

The Russian authorities have claimed responsibility this Monday for attacks that have caused at least 3 fatalities near the city of Kherson, in the south of the country, which was retaken by the Ukrainian Army last November.

In addition, the interim leader appointed by Russia in Donetsk, Denis Pushilin, assured today that Russian troops and the Wagner mercenary group are also advancing in the southeastern part of the country, around the cities of Vuhledar and Bakhmut.
