Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu visited the area of the Russian "special military operation" in Ukraine and inspected the state of the troops, the press office of his portfolio reported on Saturday. This visit coincides with the intensification of the fighting in Bakhmut.
As during the other inspections by the Minister of Defense of the troops fighting in Ukraine, the note does not specify the town that the minister visited or when the trip took place.
"The Defense Minister, Army General Sergei Shoigu, inspected one of the units of the 'East' group, in the south of Donetsk, during its activities in the area of the special military operation," the military statement said.
Shoigu received the report from the commander-in-chief of the group, Rustám Murádov, and other soldiers on the current situation and the actions of the army in the area under their responsibility, the statement added.
