A number of German holidaymakers were seriously injured on a skiing holiday in Austria at the weekend. At an altitude of 2,400 meters, a 200-meter-long avalanche in Tyrol swept away a man and a woman, and two skiers collided on a slope on the Kälbersalvenbahn near Brixen.

Several German skiers in Tyrol were seriously injured in avalanches and collisions on ski slopes at the weekend. As the state police in Innsbruck announced, a 60-year-old female tourer and a 59-year-old female tourer were swept away by a 200-meter-long avalanche below the Blankenstein summit at an altitude of 2,400 meters on Saturday. The woman was flown to the Lienz district hospital by rescue helicopter.

In the Tux Prealps, a 54-year-old ski tourer from Germany was partially buried in an avalanche. His companions alerted the rescue workers, an emergency helicopter flew him to the Innsbruck clinic.

Two German skiers aged 23 and 24 collided on a slope of the Kälbersalvenbahn near Brixen im Thalen. Both were seriously injured and transported to the St. Johann hospital by emergency helicopter.

In the Itter ski area, a 69-year-old German got lost in rough terrain, fell and called his partner in Nuremberg at around 8:30 p.m. Mountain rescuers found the injured and hypothermic man around midnight and took him to the Kufstein district hospital.

In the Thurntaler ski area, a 55-year-old German woman collided with a five-year-old child. The child was unharmed, the woman was taken to the Lienz district hospital. A 60-year-old German collided with a 56-year-old Austrian skier on the Nösslajoch. Both were flown to the Innsbruck clinic by emergency helicopter.
