DFB checks ban for Bensebaini: Borussia professional threatens trouble because of the "son of a bitch" reputation

For BMG star Ramy Bensabaini, the Bundesliga game against SC Freiburg ends in the 87th minute. First there is yellow, then yellow-red and then a wild failure against the referee. At least that's what Sky reports. The DFB has started investigations. An ex-star fears a long suspension.

Defender Ramy Bensebaini from Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach is threatened with massive anger from the German Football Association (DFB) for allegedly insulting the referee during the league game against SC Freiburg (0-0). The association's control committee will "investigate the process," said the DFB. Bensabaini is said to have insulted referee Benjamin Brand after his yellow-red card (87th). According to Sky, the French words "fils de pute" (son of a bitch) fell.

After a whistle from the referee, the Algerian international shot the ball wide. After the yellow card, Bensebaini gave Brand scornful applause and was sent off. After that, the referee was probably insulted on the way to the dressing room.

"The basis for sports jurisdiction is the entry in the game report. If the referee didn't notice it on the pitch and didn't enter it, the control committee can investigate afterwards," said referee Sascha Stegemann in the "double pass" at Sport1.

Gladbach coach Daniel Farke had criticized his player and referee Brand. "He has to have his emotions under control. That mustn't happen to him," Farke complained after the game. But he added: "If the player has to have his emotions under control, then the referee has to have his emotions under control too. He can't give a yellow card for the ball that has been pushed away."

Former national player Stefan Effenberg had predicted a longer penalty for the defender who was linked to a move to Borussia Dortmund in the "double pass". "You know how the rule is. Hitting the ball is yellow and so is the reaction to it," said the former BMG professional: "What he puts on it is much worse. That will definitely result in a tougher penalty than a game lock."
