"Top, top club", but ...: Kane gives FC Bayern a first mini rejection

Since the departure of world footballer Robert Lewandowski, FC Bayern has mostly played without a real centre-forward. Apparently, Munich have chosen England's superstar Harry Kane as his successor. But the 29-year-old initially has very different goals.

Goal scorer Harry Kane does not want to be influenced by the alleged interest of German record champion Bayern Munich. "I am focused on Tottenham Hotspur and trying to do what is best for us," said the England captain. Bayern is of course "a top, top club", but the focus is on Tottenham and "winning the game".

Kane, who is said to be under discussion in Munich as the successor to Robert Lewandowski, who has emigrated, will meet Spurs on Wednesday (9 p.m. / DAZN) in the Champions League group phase on Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt. The specialist magazine “kicker” recently reported on a “first contact” by Bayern with the attacker, who is still under contract with the London Premier League club until 2024.

In a duel with the Hessians, Kane is hoping for his first goal of this premier class season. "Obviously I want to score in every game and I will do my best to achieve that and help the team," said the 29-year-old. "I was a little disappointed that my name wasn't on the scoreboard in the first couple of games stood. I hope that changes."

In the meantime, FC Bayern could already qualify for the round of 16 in the Champions League. But Julian Nagelsmann started the 294-kilometer bus journey to Pilsen with worries in his luggage. The captain is out, the magic foot is missing, the defense is only partially ready to defend, the atmosphere could be better. But fortunately, in contrast to the Bundesliga, the premier class has so far been a kind of oasis of well-being for the people of Munich.

The business trip to the game with the Czech champions Viktoria Pilsen (Wednesday, 9 p.m. / DAZN) is significantly under the motto: "United ahead" in view of the unrest in the sovereign leaders of Group C (nine points, 9-0 goals). At least that is what is emblazoned on the luxurious bus with which the weakened Bavarians started the three-hour journey from Säbener Straße to the hotel in Pilsen.

Coach Nagelsmann complained about four more failures, above all Manuel Neuer (bruised shoulder joint). In addition to the captain, Matthijs de Ligt (hip), Serge Gnabry (knee) and Alphonso Davies, rested after suffering a skull fracture, stayed at home. Jamal Musiala (Corona) was missing. With 15 goals (seven goals, eight assists) in 13 competitive appearances, the 19-year-old is the most effective Munich player. Musiala's role as an asset could be taken over by returnees Thomas Müller or Leroy Sané, who has been involved in 16 goals in the past 13 Champions League games. Harry Kane will not provide Bayern goals until further notice.
