According to the Metropolitan Police force, officers were summoned by neighbors about a disturbance at 1:40 AM. They forced their way into a Bermondsey home. They found three women in their 40s, 60s, and 30s as well as a man in his 60s with what appeared to be stab wounds.

All four were declared dead on the spot.

On suspicion of murder, a fifth man in his 20s was taken into custody. The suspect and victims were all known to each other and police did not seek out any additional suspects.

The police stated that they are still in contact with the families of victims and would not reveal their identities.

Chief Superintendent Colin Wingrove, police chief superintendent, stated that although such terrible events are not common, he said that it will not lessen the shock felt throughout London and the country. "I can assure you that this investigation will not leave any stone unturned in uncovering the truth."
