Munich (dpa/lby) - According to teachers, almost four fifths of all Ukrainian students in the bridge classes are not well integrated in their respective schools. More than half of the teachers (54 percent) rated the integration as rather bad, 22 percent as clearly bad. This was the result of a survey by the Bavarian Association of Philologists among more than 3,000 teachers at high schools and vocational high schools, which was available to the German Press Agency in advance.
A good third (37 percent) of those surveyed taught at least 16 students in their bridging class. 11 to 15 refugees sit in 41 percent of the classes. According to the survey, only a good quarter of all teachers teach smaller classes with up to 10 girls and boys. Four-fifths of Ukrainian schoolchildren also take part in Ukrainian online lessons at least partially. The association wanted to present the full results of the study on Thursday in Munich.
In the specially set up bridging classes, the Ukrainian pupils in grades five to nine receive intensive German lessons in addition to math and English lessons with the aim of being able to take part in regular lessons afterwards.
