Bayern: Würzburg Baskets separate from Peterka: Carvacho stays

Würzburg (dpa / lby) - The Würzburg Baskets separate from the Czech national player Martin Peterka. As the basketball Bundesliga team announced on Wednesday, the existing contract will be terminated by mutual agreement. The 27-year-old power forward came from Löwen Braunschweig in the summer, but only played four Bundesliga games for Würzburg. He will play in Turkey in the future.

The Würzburg centers have given Nicolas Carvacho a contract until the end of the season. Born in Chile, he moved to Lower Franconia from Bulgaria. He was able to convince those responsible in the past few weeks with an average of 6.3 points and six rebounds per game.

"After Philipp Hartwich's long-term injury, we had to react and signed Nico Carvacho as a replacement in the center position. That's why we now have one import player too many and therefore made it possible for Martin Peterka to switch to another club after he had also played his role wasn't really satisfied," explained manager Kresmir Loncar. "I'm sorry for Martin that it developed like this, but in this constellation it was unfortunately not possible otherwise."
