Hesse: family car catches fire

Taunusstein (dpa/lhe) - A family's car burned on the B417. A 36-year-old driver from Bochum was alerted last Friday by a man driving behind her near Taunusstein with a headlight flasher that smoke was coming out of her trunk, the police said on Sunday. The woman then stopped at the edge of the forest and left the car with her family, which caught fire shortly afterwards. The driver who first noticed the smoke tried to help the family put out the fire. Due to the heavy smoke, the 27-year-old had to be treated on site by emergency services and was taken to a hospital for examination. The fire brigade was then able to extinguish the fire. The car was totaled. An informed road maintenance department had found no damage caused by the fire on the road.
