North Rhine-Westphalia: Ruhrfestspiele perform piece by Nobel Prize winner

Recklinghausen (dpa / lnw) - The Ruhr Festival in Recklinghausen will start next year with a play by the Polish Nobel Prize winner for literature Olga Tokarczuk. The piece "Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead" (translated: Pull your plow over the bones of the dead) deals with the question of what dangerous consequences it has when people lose their connection to the natural environment, the Ruhrfestspiele announced Thursday with.

The play will be brought to the stage by the British theater collective Complicité, which is known for the innovative use of new technologies on stage. After the German premiere on May 3rd, three more performances are planned in Recklinghausen (May 4th, 5th and 6th).

Every year from the beginning of May to mid-June, the Ruhr Festival shows international drama and dance theatre, performance productions, visual arts and concerts. A good 46,000 visitors came last year.
