Saxony-Anhalt: Leopoldina shows works by the photo artist Herlinde Koelbl

Halle (dpa/sa) - The National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina in Halle is showing works by the photo artist Herlinde Koelbl in a new exhibition. After the opening on Thursday, the show "Fascination Science" will be shown until September 11th. The 82-year-old photographer portrayed 60 men and women who have made a name for themselves nationally and internationally in the field of science - including 22 Leopoldina members.

The special feature: For Koelbl's photo project, the researchers wrote a motto, an idea or a formula on the palm of a hand that they are holding up to the camera. "Fascination Science" is a joint project of the Leopoldina and the Saxony-Anhalt Art Foundation.

Photographer and documentary filmmaker Koelbl's latest project is about ex-Chancellor Angela Merkel. According to the Leopoldina, the long-term photographic study was created between 1991 and 2021.
