The operator of the company in Schackstedt reported the burglary on Sunday night, video recordings showed two people opening the tank caps of tractors, as the police in Stendal announced on Sunday.
On the way to the scene of the crime, the police car was hit on the side by an oncoming car, which sped away. In a left turn, the getaway car left the road and fell down an embankment about three meters deep.
The 45-year-old driver was able to free himself with serious injuries, his 46-year-old passenger had to be taken out by the fire department and flown to a clinic. According to the police, there were several empty petrol cans and burglary tools in the vehicle. The car was not insured, the license plates were wanted. There was an outstanding arrest warrant for the driver, who did not have a driver's license. The man was taken to prison. According to the findings of the police, the two men did not steal anything from the farm.
