Monday 12 September

After a visit to the British Parliament, King Charles III. and his wife Camilla to Edinburgh for a traditional handover of keys in Holyrood. The ceremony traditionally marks the start of Holyrood Week. The Queen last attended this ceremony in June, where the key is symbolically received and returned to the city.

The Queen's coffin will be taken in a procession to St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh this afternoon. A service with members of the royal family is planned for 4 p.m. German time. After the King's visit to the Scottish Parliament, the royal family holds a wake for Elizabeth II in the evening. The public can say goodbye to the Queen at the coffin until Tuesday.

Charles III and Camilla are joined by Prime Minister Liz Truss on their tour of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

Tuesday 13 September

The Queen's coffin will be flown from Edinburgh to London at 7 p.m. German time, accompanied by Princess Anne. In the British capital, he is taken to Buckingham Palace, where he is laid out in the Bow Room overnight.

The king and his wife fly to Belfast, where they meet the leaders of all parties and representatives of all religious groups.

Wednesday 14 September

In the afternoon, the coffin is carried in a procession from the palace to the parliament. In Westminster Hall he is laid out for four days on a catafalque covered with purple cloth. The king, his wife and other members of the royal family will also go to Westminster Hall.

The famous Big Ben bell is rung in honor of the Queen. Cannon shots are also fired from Hyde Park. The public can say goodbye to the late Regent in Westminster Hall 23 hours a day until September 19.

At 11 a.m. local time (12 p.m. German time): State funeral service at Westminister Abbey with heads of state and government from around the world. The whole country remains silent for two minutes.

After the funeral service, the Queen's remains will be taken to Windsor Castle, west of London. A service is held in St. George's Chapel, after which the Queen is buried in the family circle in the family vault. The coffin of her husband Prince Philip, who died last year, is being moved to rest next to the Queen's in the future.
