The employment agencies could not offer a lifeline similar to that in the Corona crisis, said BA regional head Christian Rauch of the “Stuttgarter Zeitung” and the “Stuttgarter Nachrichten” (Wednesday).
The strong increase in operating costs is not sufficient as a prerequisite. The law does not provide for the receipt of short-time work benefits solely as a result of a business decision to restrict operations. On the other hand, it would be clear if there was suddenly no more gas available. As an "inevitable event", this would be a potential reason to apply for short-time work benefits.
The situation must be cushioned by economic aid, which could also be defined more precisely, said the BA regional head. Short-time work was the only reliable thing in the Corona crisis. "That's why people are now looking for a lifeline again because of the otherwise lack of planning security," said Rauch, explaining the increasing requests for advice from companies. After the outbreak of the pandemic, up to one million employees received short-time work benefits in Baden-Württemberg alone.
