Baden-Württemberg: Blue-green algae in the Max-Eyth-See

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - According to the city, potentially toxic blue-green algae have formed in the Max-Eyth-See in the north of Stuttgart. These can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and skin rashes in humans. Therefore, contact with the water should be avoided. The city of Stuttgart announced on Tuesday that this also applies to dogs. The current danger is also indicated by signs on site.

Blue-green algae are bacteria that look like algae and grow in areas near the shore. The bacteria are always present in bodies of water - but their concentration can rise sharply in warm weather.
