Fürth (dpa / lby) - In Bavaria, fewer young people received Bafög benefits last year than before. The State Statistical Office in Fürth announced on Tuesday that the number of recipients had fallen by 3.4 percent to 75,578 students and schoolchildren. However, the amount of money paid out in 2021 was slightly higher than a year earlier - it rose by 0.5 percent to 347.9 million euros.
Most Bafög recipients were students with 55,820. The number of students who received this government support fell by 10.1 percent to 19,758. The average amount of funding per month in 2021 remained unchanged at 556 euros.
