Baden-Württemberg: crockery worth more than 16,000 euros smuggled

Ulm (dpa / lsw) - A driver smuggled tableware worth around 16,400 euros. Ulm customs officials discovered three boxes in the van belonging to the 29-year-old from Moldova, as the main customs office announced on Monday. The owner of the crockery has an estate there, but wanted her crockery back in her home near Baden-Baden. When officers informed her of the missing papers, she sent a second driver. He settled the tax debts of around 4,500 euros and was able to take the dishes with him. Officials are now investigating tax evasion.
