Baden-Württemberg: Grün-Schwarz starts talks on the subject of construction

There is a lack of affordable housing in Baden-Württemberg. The state government is calling all stakeholders to one table to look for solutions.

Fellbach (dpa / lsw) - Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) has called for the increased use of recycled building materials in new construction projects. "We want more buildings in Baden-Württemberg to be built from what has already been built," he said before the start of the "Affordable Housing and Innovative Building" strategy dialogue in Fellbach (Rems-Murr district). In addition, the potential of the existing building must be used and climate and resource protection must be anchored in the training and further education of everyone involved in building and planning.

With the start of the strategy dialogue, one point of the green-black coalition agreement will be implemented. At the start of the discussion format, a wide variety of stakeholders from the housing and construction industry meet with the state government. Among other things, it is about the creation of affordable housing.

Kretschmann said: "We are in an ecological, social and economic transformation process." In planning, building and living, these movements intertwined more concretely than in perhaps any other area. With the strategy dialogue, the aim is to actively shape this transformation. "For example, when it comes to the question of how neighborhoods can be made more livable from an ecological and social point of view, how we can live and work there in an affordable and contemporary way, or how we can make land more available to the community again."
