Baden-Württemberg: New exhibition center in Strasbourg opened

Strasbourg (dpa/lsw) - The Alsatian metropolis of Strasbourg has officially opened its new exhibition center with a striking building by the Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. As the operating company announced on Friday, around 120 million euros were invested, of which the European metropolis of Strasbourg contributed the lion's share with around 90 million euros. More than 30 municipalities in the region are organized in the Eurometropolis.

The first major event on the newly designed area is the Strasbourg European Fair. It is aimed at consumers, is being held for the 90th time and will run until September 11th.

The new location should strengthen the importance of the eastern French city as a major European destination for business tourism, it said. The building is located near the European Parliament.
