Baden-Württemberg: SPD: "Energy check" of 100 euros for heating maintenance

At the gas summit, ideas for saving energy are to be collected. The SPD wants a kind of voucher for a heating check. That pays off for all sides.

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Shortly before the state government's gas summit, SPD party and parliamentary group leader Andreas Stoch brought up an "energy check" in the amount of 100 euros for heating maintenance. The subsidy from the state treasury should benefit all citizens in the south-west who want to have their gas heating switched off in the next few weeks. "An optimally adjusted gas heating consumes significantly less with the same heat output," said Stoch of the German Press Agency in Stuttgart. Anyone who has their heating system serviced can reduce energy costs by up to 15 percent. "And without any loss of comfort," emphasized the SPD politician.

It is also about motivating people to have their heating systems reset. "In these times, more and more consumers have to turn over every penny twice. Where the maintenance service for their own heating fails because of money, the state's subsidy program would help," Stoch is convinced. "A fast and unbureaucratic state subsidy of a one-off amount of 100 euros for the maintenance of the gas heating would be the right incentive for consumers and would also benefit the trade in the state."

For this Monday, the green-black state government has loaded gas to the crisis summit in order to prepare for a possible shortage in autumn and winter. In addition to the head of the Federal Network Agency Klaus Müller, the economy, municipalities and suppliers from Baden-Württemberg will also be there. Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) relies on "swarm intelligence" in order to be able to launch an effective short-term energy saving program. He wants to prepare the country in case Russia cuts gas supplies to Germany further in response to Western sanctions over the attack on Ukraine.
