Bad Krozingen (dpa / lsw) - Even before imprisonment was threatened, an alleged repeat offender in Bad Krozingen (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district) is said to have set a car on fire. The 31-year-old man is now in custody, the police and prosecutors announced on Monday.

According to the authorities, the suspect was held in custody from June to July last year for arson and theft, among other things, before he was released. "There were no reasons for detention at the time, such as a risk of flight," said a spokeswoman for the Freiburg public prosecutor's office. In August, the man was then sentenced to two years and six months in prison. The verdict is not yet final, so the man has not yet started his prison sentence.

The suspect allegedly set fire to a car in September. Authorities said the flames had spread to a building. He is also said to have set fire to a dumpster, torn down a surveillance camera at a grocery store and smashed the front door of the store and the window of a care facility.
