Ramsau near Berchtesgaden (dpa/lby) - The long steep wall goes straight down, only a ledge offers a climber rescue: A 42-year-old fell three meters deep in the Berchtesgadener Land on the Hohen Gerstfeld and remained lying on a narrow ledge. If the man hadn't fallen onto the ledge, he would probably have fallen 15 meters, said the Berchtesgadener Land district association of the Bavarian Red Cross on Monday.
In the fall on Friday near Ramsau (Berchtesgadener Land district), the climber injured his arm and leg. His rope partner provided first aid and guided the mountain rescue service to the scene of the accident at an altitude of 1,600 meters. Both men were rescued by the helicopter in a rope lift. The injured man was flown to a hospital.
