Fürth (dpa / lby) - The population of Bavaria has grown significantly in the first quarter due to the Ukraine war. The population increased by 92,000 people, including over 78,100 from Ukraine. At the end of March, 13.27 million people lived in Bavaria, as the State Statistical Office in Fürth announced on Tuesday. That was the strongest growth in three months since the agency began updating quarterly population figures in 1971.
A total of 105,500 Ukrainians were registered in Bavaria at the end of March. Without immigration, Bavaria's population would have shrunk, as there were over 10,000 more deaths than births.
