Bavaria: Bavaria wants to speed things up with renewable energies

Munich (dpa / lby) - According to Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU), the Free State of Bavaria wants to significantly increase the pace of the expansion of renewable energies. The state government is considering how "a stronger acceleration effect for all renewable energies" is possible, said Söder on Tuesday after a meeting of his cabinet in Munich. "The goal must be to become independent faster," said Söder.

The expansion of renewables in Bavaria has been a point of contention between the federal and state governments for months. Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) accused the Free State of acting too hesitantly, especially when it came to wind power.
