Bavaria: Emergency doctor says at his own request in the Raser process

Munich (dpa/lby) - In the Munich trial for a fatal speeding accident, the emergency doctor on duty will be heard as a witness this Wednesday (2:30 p.m.). After following coverage of the trial, the medic turned himself in to court and asked for it. The district court has therefore postponed the originally planned pronouncement of judgment and scheduled another trial date.

A 26-year-old student is charged with illegal motor racing and involuntary manslaughter. His passenger died after a serious accident on the Autobahn near Munich. According to the indictment, the two young men's rented sports car crashed into a tree at more than 300 kilometers per hour.

Because the car burst into flames, was completely destroyed and the passenger was thrown out of the car with his seat, the police had long assumed that the dead young man was behind the wheel - and not the now accused. He stated in court that he could not remember the accident.
