Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Employment agency publishes labor market data for February

Kiel/Schwerin (dpa/mv) - The effects of the energy crisis and the lack of orders for shipbuilding are clouding the prospect of noticeable improvements in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's job market. This Wednesday (10:00 a.m.) the Regional Directorate North of the Federal Employment Agency in Kiel will present the data for the month of February. A fall in the number of unemployed is also hardly to be expected due to seasonal factors, as tourism in the north-east only picks up in the spring and experiences its first peak at Easter in early April.

The trend towards declining employment had already continued at the beginning of the year. In January, 67,200 people were unemployed in the northeast, 5,000 more than in December. The unemployment rate rose from 7.6 to 8.3 percent. There were also more unemployed compared to the same month last year. Refugee Ukrainians are also included in the statistics.
