Chemnitz (dpa/sn) - The Federal Employment Agency announced the unemployment figures for February this Wednesday (10 a.m.). Unemployment had recently risen in Saxony, so that in January almost 130,900 people were unemployed. According to the regional directorate, the unemployment rate was 6.2 percent.
According to the latest information from labor market experts, the demand for workers in Germany remains high despite economic problems. The job index BA-X of the Federal Employment Agency was 127 points in February and has thus been practically stable since October.
The Ifo Institute also reported a significantly improved mood among East German companies in February. The companies assessed their situation noticeably better and the outlook for the next few months has also improved significantly, it said.
