Fürth (dpa / lby) - The inheritance and gift tax in Bavaria is bubbling up. In 2021, 3.19 billion euros were set, as the State Statistical Office announced on Wednesday. That was an increase of almost 1.3 billion and the highest value since at least 2012. Data going back further were initially not available.
Although the number of taxable gifts and inheritances rose by just under 6 percent to 37,222 compared to 2020, the taxable amounts increased by 48 percent to 17.13 billion euros. 10 billion came from inheritances, 7.1 billion from gifts. In 2019, the total revenue from taxable inheritances and gifts together was less than 10 billion euros.
Real estate prices, which are constantly climbing to new heights, are considered to be an important driver for the rising inheritance tax. As a result, inherited houses in expensive regions more and more often exceed the allowances.
