Baden-Württemberg: Historical folk festival is taking place for the second time

Stuttgart (dpa/lsw) - Food like it was around 200 years ago, juggler performances and traditional craftsmanship - the historic folk festival will take place again from Saturday in the middle of Stuttgart. The makers want to show how the Cannstatter Wasen was celebrated at the very beginning. From September 24th to October 3rd, visitors can experience folk festival attractions in the style of the old days on the Schlossplatz. The program also includes folk music and performances by folk groups.

"Authenticity is the most important thing to us," says customs expert Wulf Wager. Together with the German Agricultural Museum, he designed one of the central attractions of the fair: an exhibition on the history of agriculture and the folk festival.

The historical folk festival took place for the first time on the 200th anniversary of the Cannstatter Wasen in 2018 and was originally intended to be a one-off event. Because of the great popularity, it is now to be celebrated every four years. The managing director of the event company in.Stuttgart, Andreas Kroll, expects around 500,000 visitors.
