Kasendorf (dpa / lby) - A motorcyclist died in a head-on collision on a state road in the Kulmbach district. According to previous knowledge, he lost control of his machine between Kasendorf and Azendorf in a right-hand bend, the police said. He slipped into the oncoming lane, crashed head-on into an oncoming car and came to rest underneath. Both vehicles immediately burst into flames as a result of the collision late Friday afternoon - and burned out.
The motorcyclist could not be saved. He died at the scene of the accident. The three occupants of the car suffered minor injuries. They were able to get to safety in time and were taken to a hospital. The identity of the motorcyclist should be clarified in a forensic examination.
The state road was completely closed in the area of the accident site until late in the evening.
