Munich (dpa / lby) - Russia's war against Ukraine and China's corona lockdowns are significantly impeding production in the Bavarian metal and electrical industry (M E). According to a survey by the Ifo Institute, production is currently being disrupted by missing parts in nine out of ten Bavarian M E companies - an unprecedented value, said Bertram Brossardt, general manager of the employers' associations bayme and vbm, on Friday. "The order books are full, but they cannot be processed."
In the first quarter, exports from Bavaria's most important industry were 8 percent below the level of 2018, and production was even 15 percent lower. Global supply chains are disrupted or broken, primary products, transport and energy have become much more expensive: "This is a multiple burden that drains the financial substance of many companies," said Brossardt.
