Schweinfurt (dpa / lby) - When 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 played against the Würzburger Kickers, there were riots and police operations in Schweinfurt. Even before the start of the Lower Franconia derby on Friday evening, police officers were harassed, insulted and pelted with objects by Schweinfurt fans, the police said. The emergency services used pepper spray, and a 13-year-old boy got caught in the pepper cloud. As far as the police know, no one was seriously injured on Saturday morning.
During the game, fans of both teams repeatedly set off pyrotechnics. According to the police, fan articles were set on fire and thrown at police officers and security staff with burning objects. The game was briefly interrupted as a result. After the end of the game, there were no more major incidents.
