Saxony-Anhalt: Contemporary art spectacle in Halberstadt

Halberstadt (dpa/sa) - In Halberstadt everything will revolve around contemporary art in the next four weeks. After the vernissage of the IV MKH Biennale with the unveiling of the artwork "Tipping Point" and contemporary dance on Saturday, exhibitions, concerts, lectures and dances will be presented until October 2nd. The motto is "Material Turn". According to the organizers, the goal is to enable education and knowledge through art in a lively, true-to-life and concrete way. The entire urban space is included.

The motto refers to the increasing focus on material art, i.e. objects. According to the information provided, the IV MKH Biennale deals with the question of what objects say about society and what relationships exist between objects and society.

MKH stands for the "Monat Kunst Halberstadt" association, which this year became part of the Halberstadt City Culture Board of Trustees as a working group. According to Biennale spokesman Dietmar Gubin, the third show in 2018 attracted around 2,500 visitors. In 2020 there was no Biennale due to the corona virus. Partners and sponsors of the festival include the Saxony-Anhalt Art Foundation, the North Harz City Theater and the Saxony-Anhalt Impulse Festival for New Music.
