Thuringia: Burning sofa: police officer injured when trying to extinguish

Erfurt (dpa/th) - A police officer was seriously injured trying to extinguish a sofa. According to the police, a previously unknown person set fire to a sofa late on Friday evening - on the seventh floor in the hallway of an apartment building on Yuri-Gagarin-Ring. Local residents then called the police around 11 p.m. In addition to the seriously injured officer, two residents contracted smoke inhalation. The damage is estimated by the police at 50,000 euros.
