Bavaria: Several fatal traffic accidents on Bavaria's roads

There have recently been several fatal accidents on the roads in the Free State. Elsewhere there were serious injuries. In Upper Bavaria, a drug trip ended lightly.

Munich (dpa/lby) - At least five traffic fatalities were announced over the weekend, who lost their lives on the roads in the Free State - and there could easily have been more: After a fatal accident in Neuhaus an der Pegnitz (Nuremberg Land district), there was one Driving a tractor-trailer across a playground without a driver. "Fortunately, the playground was empty," confirmed a police spokesman on Sunday. The accident happened just around lunchtime.

A 36-year-old tractor driver had previously got stuck with his trailer in a railway underpass. He was thrown from the driver's cab of his tractor. He died at the scene of the accident, the police said on Saturday.

On Sunday, a 26-year-old motorcyclist died in a collision with a car in the Passau district. According to witnesses, the 26-year-old had already overtaken several cars on the road near Untergriesbach, a police spokesman said. Then, during another overtaking maneuver in the opposite lane, he crashed into the car of a 50-year-old and died immediately. The driver and two passengers were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

In Plattling (Deggendorf district), a truck driver died when he left the road for initially unknown reasons and drove into an adjacent field. As the police announced on Saturday, the vehicle and the trailer loaded with sugar beet tipped over onto the passenger side. Despite immediately initiated resuscitation measures, the 57-year-old died on Friday afternoon at the scene of the accident.

Two men died in a traffic accident in Swabia. As the police announced on Saturday, a 29-year-old and a 20-year-old came off the road on Friday evening, probably due to increased speed, with the car in Thierhaupten (Augsburg district), crashed into a barn wall and were trapped in the car. The 29-year-old driver died at the scene of the accident, his young passenger later in the hospital.

In several other accidents in various regions of the Free State, people were also injured, some seriously. This is also the case in Streitberg, which is part of Wiesenttal in Upper Franconia (Forchheim district), where a marshal stepped onto the track during a motocross race on Sunday for an initially unclear reason and collided with a participant there. According to the police, both the 58-year-old marshal and the 26-year-old motocross rider suffered serious head injuries in the accident. They were taken to hospitals in rescue helicopters.

On the other hand, the result of a traffic control from the southernmost part of Upper Bavaria seems almost strange: In addition to the father at the wheel, the police there also grabbed the son on the back seat by the diaper. The 43-year-old father was reported for driving under the influence of drugs after he swerved far too quickly through Raubling (Rosenheim district). At the same time, there was an arrest warrant against the 22-year-old son – also for driving under the influence of drugs.
