Nuremberg (dpa / lby) - When three trucks collided on Autobahn 9 near Nuremberg, two drivers were seriously injured - one critically. The 36 and 40-year-old men were trapped in their vehicles on Tuesday morning and taken to the hospital, the police said. Traffic had backed up between the Nuremberg and Nuremberg-Ost motorway junctions in the direction of Munich. The A9 had to be temporarily closed on these lanes.
Two trucks were standing in a row in the right lane when a third truck rammed them from behind, it said. The impact pushed the two rammed trucks on top of each other. The 36-year-old driver of the rear van and his front man were trapped. Firefighters reportedly needed two and a half hours to free the two injured. The 36-year-old is in mortal danger, the 40-year-old driver of the front truck was unharmed, the police said.
