Mellrichstadt (dpa / lby) - A truck driver crashed his vehicle into the central barrier on Autobahn 71 and later died in the hospital. According to initial findings, the 51-year-old had lost control of his vehicle due to health problems, the police said on Thursday evening. Although he appeared unharmed, he was unresponsive by the time police arrived.
The man was first treated by first responders, then handed over to the emergency services and taken to a hospital, where he died. After the accident on Thursday afternoon between the Bad Neustadt an der Saale and Mellrichstadt junctions, the autobahn in the direction of Erfurt was temporarily completely closed.
