Langweid am Lech (dpa/lby) - A Unimog driver crashed into a trailer in Swabia and caused damage of around 400,000 euros. As the police announced on Tuesday, the 35-year-old had overlooked signs on Monday morning on the federal highway 2 near Langweid am Lech (Augsburg district), which indicated that the road maintenance department was working.

Because of the work, the right lane in the northbound direction was completely closed. When the 35-year-old drove out of a tunnel, a road maintenance truck with a safety trailer appeared in front of him. To avoid colliding with the trailer, the Unimog driver pulled the steering wheel to the right and drove past the truck on the hard shoulder. However, he touched the security trailer and destroyed it completely, according to the police.

When you countersteered, the Unimog began to sway, tipped over to the right and came to rest across the left lane. The rescue service took the Unimog driver to a hospital with minor injuries. The B2 was blocked in the north for four hours after the accident.
