Orkney Library has received a book that was due to be returned 46 years ago.
The Hardy Boys book The Sinister Sign Post was to be returned in June 1976.
After being found in an attic, it was finally brought back to life.
According to the library, the book is still in good condition after all these years and there will be no late return fine.
John Peterson, library and archive assistant said that the book is still in good condition. We don't have a copy of the book so we might take it back.
A book that was more than 43 years old was returned to Orkney Library in 2017.
P.H Butter had to return the biography of Edwin Muir, a local poet and writer, before October 1973.
