Korbach (dpa/lhe) - A 29-year-old man from Korbach (Waldeck-Frankeberg district) lost tens of thousands of euros through a scam on the Internet with cryptocurrencies. He had previously met a woman through an online dating service who introduced herself as a bank manager in London, police said on Wednesday. She raved about her profits from trading cryptocurrencies and encouraged him to invest himself.
According to the report, the man then set up an account on a website named by the alleged manager and deposited money there. Only when it was not possible to transfer his investments and profits to his own account did he become suspicious, found warnings about the site on the Internet and filed a complaint.
