Hesse: Bouffier's state parliament mandate could go to Kühne-Hörmann

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - If Hesse's Prime Minister Volker Bouffier (CDU) returns his seat in the state parliament as planned on Tuesday, Justice Minister Eva Kühne-Hörmann could move up for him. According to the CDU state list, it would be your turn, as a spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group said on Friday when asked by dpa. Bouffier had won his mandate as a direct candidate for his constituency in Giessen. First of all, the constituency replacement candidate Sven Simon would have the right of access, said the parliamentary group spokesman. However, the CDU deputy in the European Parliament stated that he did not want to move to the state parliament in Wiesbaden. Therefore, the state list applies.

There, the next candidates behind Kühne-Hörmann are the former Hessian Social Affairs Minister Stefan Grüttner and the former Hessian Minister of Education Karin Wolff. Bouffier had announced that he would also relinquish his mandate when he resigned as prime minister. Simon explained that he took part in the European elections in order to best represent Hesse's interests in the European Parliament. "I've been doing it with great pleasure for three years and would like to continue doing it in the future."
