Hesse: Charges in the Awo scandal against politicians admitted

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - In the scandal surrounding the Awo associations in Frankfurt and Wiesbaden, a Wiesbaden local politician and his daughter have to answer in court in November. According to its own statements on Friday, the Wiesbaden district court allowed the public prosecutor's office to charge a good year ago for incitement and aiding and abetting infidelity.

The investigating authorities assume that the woman received more than 50,000 euros through a sham job arranged by her father at Awo. The local politician is said to have used his contacts with the Awo boss at the time.

It had been planned to enable the daughter to study without her having to look after her livelihood. According to the indictment, everyone involved agreed that the student "did not have to do any work". The trial is scheduled for November 3rd.

The case of the Wiesbaden local politician and his daughter is part of the 2019 Awo scandal. Among other things, it is about excessive salaries and luxury company cars at the Frankfurter Awo as well as unjustified donations to the Wiesbaden district association, which is personally linked to Frankfurt.

In the complex, the Lord Mayor of Frankfurt, Peter Feldmann (SPD), is accused of accepting advantages and will have to answer in court from October 18th.
